  1. You don’t use grease to lube up your chains and stuff – for that you use special high-viscosity grease or regular lubricating oil.
  2. Don’t rate down the product because you didn’t know what you were buying.
  3. I used a mixture of mineral spirits/water/detergent to clean out my bike’s dirty bearings and crank, and used this stuff to relubricate them.
  4. It’s a thick sort of paste with a pleasant bluish-green color, and it works awesome for bearings because it’s thick enough to hold them in place when you’re putting the small bearings in so that they won’t fall out, but it’s greasy enough that once they get rolling they’re lubricated perfectly.
  5. It’s not revolutionary, but it’s a fair amount for a good price.
  6. You could probably service ten bikes with one tube, or just one bike for a few years depending on how often you bother to re-grease your internals.
  7. This stuff would also work great for lubricating a few things inside the frame; maybe rubbing a little on the walls of the seat tube, or especially lubricating the internal bolts and nuts in the head-tube to prevent them from corroding (be very careful with placing any grease in the head-tube!), which can be a serious pain if you ever try to install a new fork.
  8. I wouldn’t use this on external bolts, like the rear or front axles, because this stuff will stay on there forever and collect all manner of dirt and debris.
  9. The tube was well packaged (it didn’t leak or was it punctured) for shipping and arrived right on time.
  10. This will increase the life of your bike and keep you heading down the road!
  11. I’ve used it to repack wheel bearings on a bike which had not been maintained in a while (the wheels were not spinning freely).
  12. Once the hub and bearings were cleaned, with the fresh grease, the wheels spun smoothly and quietly.
  13. The nice thing is that if you’re not running a bike shop, this squeezable tube will last quite a while.
  14. The tube will last a long time if you only work on a couple of bikes at home, I’ve been on the same tube for over a year now and I probably have a couple more jobs with it before I need to buy a new tube.
  15. I cannot speak to long-term use but I use this in most of my refurbs and maintenance and immediate results look promising.
  16. I tend to thouroghly wash and scrub my bike with soap and water a few times throughout the season.
  17. It seems to work fine for bottom brackets and headsets.

  1. It penetrates, reduces friction, prolongs component life, displaces moisture, and protects parts from rust and corrosion.
  2. Also work great on cables, spoke nipples, and derailleur and brake pivots.
  3. Using PTFE and a proprietary blend of oils, Park Tool Chain Lube works great in wet or dry conditions.

  5. This stuff seems pretty great but keep in mind that despite a lid that allow you to somewhat adjust the flow, a lot of lube comes out pretty quickly so you’ll probably need to wipe away the excess once you’re done, especially if you’re dealing with any kind of dirt or dust on your rides.
  6. This is a synthetic blend, so it still does catch more dirt than a full synthetic.
  7. It came with a longer applicator tip- not like the pictured simple cap.
  8. The tip is part of a cap and unscrews to allow application through a small hole on the end.
  9. The entire cap did not fit tightly on the bottle and when it was in my toolbox during a trip, it leaked, losing about 10% of the oil.
  10. I investigated the cap and there was no position where it was leak free if the bottle lies on its side.
  11. I later dropped the bottle from about 3 feet and the cap popped off and I lost about 60% of the original oil.
  12. I’ve used a few drops and only have about 30% of the bottle remaining!
  13. The old cap (as pictured as of the time of this review) was fine- the new one leaks.
  14. And all of this is after the original envelope arrived with a rip in the side and no bottle of lube in it!
  15. Works better than other products, consistent is like proper oil, and does not clump up in cold weather like that crap wax stuff.
  16. The cap allows you to adjust just how much flows out although it definitely needs a bit more cleaning even when you wipe off the excess, but handles dry and wet weather well!
  17. After using the Park Tool cleaning kit on my dads bike chain, I used this Bike lube and the chain was awesome again.
  18. Park Tool you always amaze me with your tools, cleaning kits, greases, stands etc.
  19. I think if you get caught in a down pour it will wear off pretty quick.
  20. The PTFE is what settles in the mixture, and why the directions state to shake well.
  21. In the past whenever I used a lubricant that contained PTFE, I’d have to shake it well so the PTFE is properly dispersed.
  22. The CL-1 is definitely very fluid even at cold temperatures.
  23. It would flow into each link of a bicycle chain, as well as flow into cable housings and cover all of the cable strands.
  24. I applied it to pivot points on V-brake calipers as well as springs and other rotating points on the bicycle and motorcycle.
  25. My rear brake lever seemed sticky and the CL-1 freed it up after I lubed the pivot points and some parts of the cable.
  26. I love how the included straw really allows the user to meter the use of the CL-1 fluid.
  27. The negative aspects of the CL-1 would be that it still remained wet.
  28. This would attract dirt and grit in the long-term until the naptha solvents evaporated, but would lubricate all of the moving parts of a bicycle chain.
  29. Overall: 5/5 stars, easy to use, remains wet and fluid even in cold temperatures.
  30. Overall a good product; but it does tend to attract small particles to the drivetrain of your bike.
